The Board of Trustees of the Greater Toledo Community Foundation approved a grant to proactively address concerns raised by communities that are still disproportionately impacted by inequity and lack of access in the Greater Toledo area. St. Martin De Porres Parish was awarded a grant to launch a resident-driven leadership training program and job readiness program for Englewood neighborhood in collaboration with Community Reinvestment Coalition - Englewood SW and Robinson Elementary.

We celebrate our first annual Juneteenth which gathers local residents from the Englewood District, and surrounding communities throughout NW Ohio to address the need for health equity, education and economic equity, while enjoying vibrant events of rich culture through music, dance, poetry, skits, history, a career day, a job fair, and family activities for single-family homes, married with children, and extended family.

 As we take center stages to amplify throughout the communities that we are the source and reflection of a new generation of talent. These communities are the site where the torches of inspiration are passed and are encouraged to continue the tradition of celebrating annually. In honor of this long time coming, Africans and indigenous people of color in America will always celebrate each other and our triumphs with food, dancing, singing, and celebration and the absolute right to live and pursue happiness in spite of a nations attempt to silence us.
